Come to Big Bear before the crowds start arriving over the Christmas and New Year Holiday. The Resorts are maintaining their coverage with Snow Summit at 80% open and Bear Mountain/The Park at 50% open. Enjoy the lodging and lift tickets at lower rates, starting December 17 lodging and lift tickets go to peak rates. So you don't ski or ride there is still plenty to do. Shop, hike, horseback riding, and more or just come and relax and enjoy the clean air and serenity of Big Bear.

Snow Falling

Well it is finally snowing in Big Bear! The resorts are loving it, just in time for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Several inches have fallen since 8AM this morning. The Snow Summit Race Team had their annual fund raiser Dinner Auction last night and it was a huge success. The theme is Think Snow and there you have it. Have a good day in the white stuff.

Snow Summit's Opening Day

Tomorrow Saturday November 13^this Snow Summit’s OPENING DAY! You can go to there website at www.snowsummit.com for more information. Snow making is underway at every opportunity at both resorts. Bear Mountain’s opening day is currently undecided. Chairs 1 and 8 will be open accessing Miracle Mile and Bear Bottom beginner area, and we will have a few terrain park features on Bear Bottom run. Private ski and snowboard lessons are available on the hour. Tomorrow’s snow surface and conditions will depend on tonight’s snow making. Bear Mountain Only season passes are valid at Snow Summit; pass restrictions still apply. Tomorrow’s lift hours are 8:30am to 4:00pm and ticket windows will open at 8:00am. Early Season All Day Tickets Rates: Adult $40, Young Adult $35 and Child $15 Half Day Tickets: Adult $35, Young Adult $30 and Child $10 See you on the snow TOMORROW!

Fall 2010

For all of you that have had computer glitches I to have joined up. It has been almost a year since my last post and I'm sure face book and twitter have taken over, but for you non technology users here is my latest post.
October 30th is the last day of Oktoberfest 2010. Halloween in the Village is October 31 from 5pm-9pm. Saturday night there are lots of Halloween parties taking place at various clubs. Snow Summit resorts is still operating their chair lift for scenic rides and access to the forest for mountain bikes. The Bear Mountain golf course is open, enjoy the fall colors while playing a mountain style course. It won't be long before the snow flies so get your equipment out, dusted off and tuned up ready for the 2010/2011 ski and ride season. I will keep you alert when the snow flies and the resorts open for all you diehards that want to make opening day.
